Gilt Skulls
Gilt Macaw is a depiction of the attempt to preserve biological specimen imbued with hints of the macabre and existentialism. (8 x 8" Oil on canvas) Some species of Macaw such as the Spix's or Glaucous are believed to be extinct. Some species of Puffin such as the Atlantic Puffin in Iceland are endangered. (10 x 8" Oil on canvas) The skulls have been covered with gold, (gilded, or gilt) to memorialize the beauty of the once living creatures. 'Gilt Puffin' & 'Gilt Macaw' were on display at the 22nd Annual Zions Bank Art Show in Salt Lake City on November 6, 2019.
