BYUH Beatitudes

In my typography course, the students analyze several hand-lettered script alphabets and typefaces. They create a hand-lettered alphabet and convert it into a font. This semester they selected virtues to create an uplifting phrase and then hand-lettered the phrase based on their alphabet in a decorative style adding flourishes and embellishment. The students then transfer the phrase with chalk onto blackboard signs measuring [ 32 x 48” ]. The signs were exhibited in the DOMA Gallery on BYUH Campus. I created this hand-lettered chalk sign to advertise the exhibition. I took still images of my progress and completed this time lapse video in After Effects.
